What is it

Accounting is more than
recording transactions

Accounting and financial management is the systematic process of recording, classifying and summarising all financial transactions of a business — and then using that data to manage performance, meet statutory obligations and make better decisions.

For most businesses, accounting is reduced to filing GST returns or preparing books at year-end. Done properly, it is a continuous process that gives you visibility into cash flow, profitability and working capital every single month.

At CA Laxmikant and Associates, we manage accounting end-to-end — from day-to-day bookkeeping and monthly MIS reports through to audit-ready financial statements — so you always know exactly where your business stands.

Why it matters

What happens when accounting is neglected — and what you gain when it isn't

Most businesses treat accounting as a year-end activity — books are maintained informally, reconciliations are skipped and financial statements are prepared in a rush before the audit.

This approach has real consequences — from missed tax deductions and GST penalties to poor decisions made without reliable financial data. Structured monthly accounting changes all of this.

Without structured accounting — the risks
GST Mismatches & Penalties
Unreconciled books lead to ITC mismatches in GSTR-2B, notice from GST authorities and reversal of input tax credit already claimed.
Missed Tax Deductions
Expenses not properly recorded are not claimed — resulting in higher taxable income and excess tax paid that could have been legally avoided.
Loan Applications Rejected
Banks and NBFCs reject loan applications when financial statements are inconsistent, unaudited or not maintained as per accounting standards.
Cash Flow Blind Spots
Without monthly accounts, businesses discover cash shortfalls too late — when payments are already due and no buffer exists to cover them.
Audit Delays & Penalties
Books prepared at year-end in a rush are error-prone — leading to statutory audit delays, late filing fees and penalties under the Companies Act and Income Tax Act.
Poor Business Decisions
Decisions on pricing, hiring, investment and expansion made without reliable financial data are based on instinct — not numbers that reflect reality.
With CA Laxmikant and Associates
With structured monthly accounting — what you gain
Full GST & TDS Compliance
Books, returns and registers reconcile every month — no ITC surprises, no mismatches and no penalties.
Maximum Tax Efficiency
Every allowable deduction is captured in real time — reducing your tax liability legally and accurately.
Bank Loan Ready at All Times
Clean, current and credible financials mean your loan application is never held up by weak documentation.
Real-Time Financial Visibility
Monthly MIS delivered by the 10th — so you always know your cash position, margins and receivables before making decisions.
Stress-Free Audit & Filing
Audit-ready books throughout the year mean statutory audits, ITR filings and ROC submissions happen on time — with zero last-minute rush.
Faster, Smarter Decisions
Pricing, hiring and investment decisions backed by accurate, up-to-date numbers — not estimates or last year's data.
How we work

A structured process for accurate, timely accounts

Our six-step monthly accounting process ensures your books are always current, compliant and ready for any review.

1
Onboarding & Business Understanding
One-time
We begin with a detailed onboarding session to understand your business — its nature, revenue streams, cost structure, applicable taxes and existing accounting setup. We review your chart of accounts, set up the correct ledger structure and align our process with your business cycle.
Business profile review Chart of accounts setup Accounting software configuration Engagement letter
2
Document Collection & Data Receipt
Monthly — by 5th
By the 5th of each month, we collect all source documents from you — bank statements, invoices, purchase bills, expense receipts, salary registers and GST-related records. We send you a structured checklist so nothing is missed and the process is consistent every month.
Bank statements Sales & purchase invoices Expense receipts Salary register GST records
3
Bookkeeping & Transaction Recording
Monthly — by 7th
All transactions are recorded in the correct ledger accounts — sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, payments, GST and TDS. Journal entries are passed for accruals, prepayments, depreciation and payroll. Every entry is coded to the correct cost centre and expense category.
Sales & purchase entries Journal entries Depreciation posting Payroll accounting GST & TDS entries
4
Reconciliation & Internal Review
Monthly — by 9th
Bank accounts, credit cards, debtors and creditors are reconciled. GST ITC is matched with GSTR-2B and TDS entries are reconciled with Form 26AS. A senior CA reviews all entries before reports are prepared — ensuring accuracy before any output leaves our team.

By the 10th of every month, you receive a complete financial MIS pack — P&L statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement and debtor/creditor ageing. For clients requiring it, segment-wise or cost-centre reports and budget-vs-actual variance analysis are also provided.

FAQs & Contact

Common questions about our accounting services

Everything you need to know before getting started — answered clearly.

What accounting software do you work in?
We work in the software your business already uses — primarily Tally Prime, Tally ERP 9, Zoho Books, QuickBooks Online and Busy. We can also maintain accounts in Excel-based formats for simpler businesses. If you are not currently using any accounting software, we will recommend the most suitable option based on your business size, GST registration status and reporting requirements during onboarding.
How is accounting different from bookkeeping?
Bookkeeping is the process of recording transactions — it is one component of accounting. Accounting is the broader function that includes recording, classifying, reconciling, analysing and reporting financial information. Our service covers both — we record transactions daily or weekly (bookkeeping) and then perform reconciliations, prepare MIS reports, financial statements and feed compliance filings (accounting). You get a complete financial management service, not just data entry.
How do I share documents with your team every month?
We make document sharing as simple as possible. You can share documents via WhatsApp, email or a shared Google Drive or Dropbox folder — whichever suits you. We send you a structured monthly checklist by the 1st of each month so you know exactly what to share. Documents can be photos of physical receipts, PDF invoices or Excel files — we accept all common formats. No physical courier or visit to our office is required.
When will I receive my monthly MIS reports?
We deliver your monthly MIS pack — P&L statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement and debtor/creditor ageing — by the 10th of every month, provided you share all documents by the 5th. If documents are received after the 5th, the delivery timeline adjusts accordingly. For clients with more complex requirements, such as segment reporting or budget-vs-actual analysis, the delivery timeline is discussed during onboarding.
Is my financial data kept confidential?
Yes — absolutely. All financial information you share with us is treated with the highest level of professional confidentiality. As a Chartered Accountancy firm, we are legally bound by professional secrecy obligations under the Chartered Accountants Act. Your data is never shared with any third party without your explicit consent. We sign a confidentiality undertaking as part of our engagement letter before any documents are exchanged.
Do you also handle GST returns and TDS filing?
Our accounting service includes GST and TDS accounting in your books — recording GST output liability, input tax credit, TDS payable and TDS receivable, and reconciling them with GSTR-2B and Form 26AS. Actual GST return filing (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B) and TDS return filing (Form 24Q, 26Q) are offered as part of our GST Advisory and Compliance and Income Tax services respectively. Many clients engage us for a combined package covering accounting, GST and income tax compliance under a single monthly retainer.
My books are not maintained for the past few months — can you help?
Yes — catch-up and cleanup bookkeeping is one of the most common requests we handle. We assess the backlog, identify the source documents available and work systematically to bring your books up to date. Depending on the volume and complexity, backlog work is typically completed within 2 to 6 weeks. Once the accounts are current, we set up a monthly process to ensure they stay that way going forward. Backlog work is priced separately from the ongoing monthly retainer.
Can you manage accounts if we already have an internal accountant?
Yes — and this is a very common arrangement. Many businesses have an internal accountant or bookkeeper handling day-to-day data entry, while we function as the supervising CA team responsible for reconciliations, MIS preparation, financial statement review and compliance-linked accounting. We can also work alongside your internal accountant to review their work, correct errors and ensure the books are audit-ready. This hybrid model gives you the cost efficiency of an in-house resource with the technical oversight of a CA firm.
